The Medical Section is one of 11 specialist sections of the School of Spiritual Science at the Goetheanum in Dornach
Rudolf Steiner founded the School of Spiritual Science at the end of 1923. It was initially divided into a General Anthroposophic Section and six specialist Sections. He appointed Dr. med. Ita Wegman as head of the Medical Section. The task of the Medical Section is to study the spiritual side of health and illness and integrate the results into current scientific medicine and practice.
Today, the Medical Section consists of a worldwide, interdisciplinary network that stimulates and develops the various medical professions, taking into account spiritual, economic-social and political aspects.
In particular, it is dedicated to the following tasks:
- promoting and coordinating research and development in Anthroposophic Medicine and its various forms of therapy;
- organizing meetings and conferences, as well as training and further training modules for the deepening of Anthroposophic Medicine worldwide
- publicizing specialist articles, particularly on 5 CARE areas, in specialist journals and on the Anthromedics online platform
- working for freedom in therapy, diversity of methods and qualified pluralism in medicine.
